Perennial Foods Nursery
Perennial Foods Nursery and Empowerment Services is a project of Mountain Homestead. At Mountain Homestead, we take food growing one step further by propagating our own plants and inoculating our own mushroom logs. Perennial Foods Nursery and Empowerment Services shares these skills in the form of classes and workshops on plant propagation and plant care, and mushroom log growing. The nursery also has pre-inoculated mushroom logs and locally selected, adapted and propagated plants for sale at the Coquille Farmers' market, every last Thursday of each month.
Perennial Foods Nursery focuses on providing specially selected crops which are tested and proven to be not only productive but also incredibly easy to grow in our region. These include many lesser-known crops which have only recently become widely available. Empowerment Services are geared towards demonstrating that just about anybody in any situation can grow at least some nutritious food themselves, without all that much effort. Food growing can be not just easy, but outright fun and extremely rewarding.
Perennial Foods Nursery is dedicated to sound business practices, demonstrating full-circle resource use, community building and ecological restoration as an inseparable part of business. A strict No-Waste policy ensures all resources involved are effectively used, reused and finally properly recycled.
